Day 2

Day 2 didn't start off as great as Day 1 for me. I wasn't able to get up and get my Yoga in. Part of any successful diet and exercise regiment is being flexible and trying your best not to get stressed out. Yesterday was a real test of that. First thing in the morning, I woke up and realized the kids had gotten into cereal before bed and left the milk out all night. That meant they had nothing to eat for breakfast. That wouldn't work. I had to send them to school...so I had to run the to the grocery store. That made me miss my morning hot water with lemon time and Yoga time. The silver lining was in the fact that I had time to go get the milk because I had woken up early enough to do the Yoga.

I made my Apple Remedy and drank it and then made and took with me my breakfast to my next errand of the day, taking the pups to the vet.The rest of the day was a lot of running around too. One of my children had school orientation today. The two boys who are starting school today needed haircuts. I didn't manage to drink my snack shake today. I did, however have breakfast, lunch and dinner. I sadly was 40 oz. shy of my water intake goals for the day too. However, it's another day, and I'm back on track.

Day 1

This morning I started off with 3 week Yoga Retreat on Beachbody on Demand. It was just what I needed. My 5 year old had his first day of Kindergarten this morning. He had a crazy melt down and nothing was going smoothly getting him ready for school. The 30 minutes of yoga this morning was exactly what I needed to be in the right frame of mind to handle the added stress.

Later in the morning I did my Youv2 Day 1. It wasn't that difficult. I think I'm beyond it fitness wise, but I don't want to feel like I'm starving or overwhelm my body, so I think that this exercise program is just what I need to kick off my new healthy lifestyle regiment. Thus far, I would highly recommend this exercise program to anyone who is looking to move more.

Now, let's talk about food. OH MY!

Drinking a lot of water like I did today makes me have to run to the restroom a bit more. However, it keeps me feeling full.  I love having warm water with lemon in the morning. I don't miss coffee as much!

The Apple Remedy was okay. I don't like honey, however, I found this reasonably palatable.

Breakfast was good, but I did have to add a 1/2 cup of water to my blender. I am going to edit my last post to reflect this change. On a side note, my Ninja didn't break this down well enough. I ended up putting everything in my Nutribullet. That made it more of a drink.

Lunch was GROSS! Jamba juice saved the day today and I will try to make what I drank today at home.

Snack 1 was fine. It's pickle juice. I don't mind pickles or pickle juice.

Snack 2 made me feel like my insides were on fire. I reduced the amounts of Cayenne and Turmeric and will play with that until it is palatable.

Dinner was delicious.

I'm headed upstairs to do some more Yoga and meditate and go to bed. I wanted to make sure I stopped and shared my experience first. I'm excited for what tomorrow will bring.

Preparing for Week 1

Week 1

Week 1 will be a detox or reset week. Many people believe that our bodies do not need to detox. Some people swear by it. I'm willing to try anything. The rules for this week are fairly simple. Juice EVERYTHING! Do NOT eat or drink store bought juices. You must include the following into your regiment:

1. Each morning as soon as you wake up drink a cup of hot water with lemon in it. Use fresh lemon, not lemon juice from a bottle.

2. After you drink, your water, prepare yourself mentally for your day. My recommendation is yoga. There is a lot to support the practice of daily yoga. I plan to start and finish every day with Beach Body's Yoga Retreat(more about how to end your day in a minute).

3. The first thing you need to consume each day after your lemon water is what is known as the Apple Honey Remedy (recipe below).

4. Before every meal (3x a day), drink 8 oz. of water and 1-2 tsps. of Apple Cider Vinegar. If you can't stand the taste, I recommend looking into one of the many Apple Cider Vinegar pills.

5. For breakfast lunch and dinner you can make whatever smoothies you like. Throughout the day you must consume the following: 1 grapefruit, 1 banana, 1 inch fresh ginger root, cayenne pepper, turmeric., 1 oz. pickle juice, 1 tbsp coconut oil.

6. After every meal consume an digestif. This does not have to be an alcoholic digestif. My favorite digestifs include aƱejo agave tequila and limoncello and sweet Madeira.

7. You must consume a gallon of water each day.

8. You may consume one juice/drink snack a day or two if you are separately consuming the ounce of pickle juice.

9. Again, every diet plan is best paired with exercise. If you can, you should find a great exercise program. This part is not necessary, but it is a good idea to sweat a bit every day if you can.

10. Stress can make a huge impact on your body and health. Every day you should plan a way to release your stress. The suggested method for this diet is an orgasm. Yes, I just said that. Yes, you just read the word you thought you read. Think I'm crazy? Google sex diet. I'm likely going to throw in a run as part of my stress relief too (I'll probably start over with Week 1 Day 1 of Zen Labs Couch to 5k or 10k Trainer app - a completely free and totally amazing app if you want to start running). As this has always been one of the best ways for me to stay sane and unwind. Which brings me to the next guideline.

11. You need to find a way to unwind and relax each night. This is separate from the orgasm or run mentioned above. This is you clearing your mind and relaxing from head to toe. For me the plan is to do Yoga and then meditate.

12. You need to get at least 6 hours of sleep and ideally 8.

My Exercise Plan:

For exercise, I have signed up for Beachbody on Demand. It gives me access to over 600 workouts and I can take it with me anywhere. If you don't have a Beachbody account, it's more than worth it. Sign-up here and let me be your coach throughout the process. My initial plan in 3 week Yoga Retreat Every Morning and likely every night. My workout for the beginning will by Youv2.

I will blog every day to keep everyone posted on my progress and my thoughts as I progress through my journey. I hope you will follow me and start your own journey!

Don't Like the Diet? Don't Run Away!

Don't like the diet but want to try the workout, I highly encourage you to pick a Beachbody challenge pack and join me. The reason I'm doing this diet is in part because I'm crazy, in part because I'm desperate and in part because this diet avoids all of my allergies and the kids allergies and I can use a lot of the materials for my meals for the kids.

What Is This Diet?

The Everything but the Kitchen Sink Diet a/k/a the Sex, Tequila and all the Fads Diet is a culmination of all the recent fads. It is a 3-4 week diet plan followed by 3-8 weeks of follow-up dieting focused on portion control and making healthy/clean eating decisions. There is also an optional workout plan that I will incorporate herewith too. After all, the best success is a combination of dieting/making healthy food choices and exercise. The first 3-4 weeks is a diet that is meant to clean out your system and can extend past that if you want. It includes a 1 week complete juice fast. Each week after you incorporate one meal back into your diet making healthy choices. The reason the diet lasts 3-4 weeks is based on the option to continue with morning smoothies/juices in lieu of morning meals. Again, the remainder of the diet is focusing on making healthy/clean decisions and focuses on portion control.
